PROJECTS OF THE IUA 62. Compendium Auctorum Latinorum Medii Aevi (C.A.L.M.A.) |
|
C.A.L.M.A. (Compendium Auctorum Latinorum Medii Aevi) is a bibliographical repertory the aim of which is to provide complete bibliographical orientation for all authors who wrote in Latin during the period 500-1530 A.D. (approximately from Boethius to Erasmus). The intention is to provide, for each author in question, a selective general bibliography, then a list of the author's works, arranged in alphabetical order, and then for each work indications of where the work is referred to in alpha-numerical repertories, which manuscripts preserve the work (in the case of works which have not been printed; for printed works manuscripts are not listed), then indications of where printed editions of the work may be found, and finally secondary bibliography or studies pertaining to the work in question. As a project, C.A.L.M.A. is international in two senses: the Medieval Latin authors who are listed in the bibliography were from all countries of Europe, from Baltic to the Mediterranean. Attention is given to ensure full scholarly coverage of Medieval Latin authors, even where secondary publication is in languages such as Polish and Russian. Secondly, the scholars who compile the entries for C.A.L.M.A. work in many countries of the world: Italy, Great Britain, Germany, France, Spain, Portugal, Switzerland and the United States. The editorial supervision of the project is based in three countries: Italy (Florence), Great Britain (Cambridge) and the United States (Notre Dame). This project, presented by the Unione Accademica Nazionale, was adopted by the IUA in 2001 as a category C Project. Director : M. Pasquale Smiraglia 2001- |
