PROJECTS OF THE IUA 57. Moravia Magna |
|
The Great Moravia - the first state formation of the occidental Slavs - represent, in the European history, in the 9th and the beginning of the 10th century an important phenomenon whose civilizing message, for the further development of the central Europe, is uncontestable. The heritage of the Great Moravia took a particular importance at the time of the constitution of the "successors" states (Bohemia, Poland and Hungary) influencing their governmental habits. The aim of this project in which participate Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Austria is to create a complex database of archeological, linguistic, artistic and historical sources showing the Great Moravia in the large cultural and historical connections with the whole 9th century's Europe. This project was adopted by the IUA as a Category C project in 1997. Directors: MM. Dusan Caplocic and Alexander Ruttkay 1997- |
