55. Fuentes narrativas para la Historia del Río de la Plata
(Narrative sources for Rio de la Plata's History)

By "narrative sources" this project, initiated by the Academia Nacional de la Historia (Argentina), means memories, autobiographies, diaries, travel diaries, books of travel, private and similar reports which dealt with aspects of the history of one or many countries of the Rio de la Plata's region. This region comprises the countries wich integrated in the XVIIIth century the Vice-royalty of  the Rio de la Plata, corresponding now to the states of Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay wich human, social, political and economical links share a common history.

This project covers three historical periods : the Spanish domination period, the Independence period and the consolidation of the independent society period (wich goes more or less until 1900).

Many sources of that type were already published and are in consequence excluded of this project. It will include unedited sources or edited sources whose importance, signification or difficult access justify a re-edition with an adequate critical apparatus.

This project, presented by the Academia Nacional de la Historia (Argentina), was adopted by the UAI in 1997 as a Category C project.
