54. Fuentes para la Historia del Teatro en España (Sources for the History of the Spanish Theatre)

The first volume in Series C of the Colleccion Tamesis, Fuentes para la Historia del Teatro en España, was published in 1971 : Teatros y comedias en Madrid : 1600-1650. Many volumes have so far been published, and many are in press or in preparation. The original intention was to bring together the results of the research work undertaken in Spanish archives by Prof. N.D. Shergold and J.E. Varey since 1949. The aim was to provide check-lists of all the documents in a particular archive, or section of an archive, which dealt with aspects of the history of the theatre in Spain, publishing in full those documents of particular interest, and using throughout standardised norms of presentation.

The project, proposed by the British Academy was adopted by the UAI in 1996 as a Category C project.

Momentaneously suspended in 2004.
