30. Corpus of constitutions |
|
|
The project Corpus of Constitutions aims at producing an extensive serial publication of international appeal and application, which is of interest and concern to all independent countries of the world. It is to be a 'universal collection of constitutions in force', with each of the constitutions to be published in the national language of the country concerned, followed by a French translation. A scholarly introduction is provided, both historical and juristic. It has the purpose of discussing and describing, for each country involved, the origin and the mode of functioning of its government and its constitutional institutions in relation to the past and present political, economic and social situations in the country in question. A bibliography is also provided, and a cumulative analytical index facilitates the use of the collection. The publication of the volumes dealing with the constitutions of individual countries follows essentially an alphabetical order. The project was initiated by the Académie des Sciences morales et politiques (Academy of Moral and Political Sciences) in Paris. The UAI has given the project moral support since 1965 and adopted it as a Category C project in 1975. The Corpus project is directed by an international committee. Directors : P. Bastid 1965-1974, G. Berlia 1975-1976, J. Cadart 1977- Discontinued in 1994. |
